Contact: office@joyhealthwellness.com VISION: “Conscious Sustainable Community” (CSC) MISSION: Our mission is to create a sustainable community that supports conscious living through educational workshops and programs. We nurture the body, open the mind, and feed the spirit. STEP 1: Establish the Vision - Create a board of visionaries. THE RETREAT CENTER
Grounds: Nature, peaceful and relaxing, flowing water Accommodations: utilitarian, promoting introspection, affordable Workshop rooms: various sizes available Cafeteria: serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner – organic with vegetarian/vegan options Garden: organic, support cafeteria, sell to community Bookstore Bodywork Center Meditation Center Art Center And More: What else would you like to see? STEP 2: Establish Community Create the community to support the vision. Recruit the community of self-sustaining individuals to care for the center and upkeep the property.
Create a nurturing environment to support those in transition to work for room and board.
Provide a stimulating community for the retired to volunteer and learn.
Establish non-profit organization and solicit donations to support projects and provide scholarships.
Establish the kitchen and cafeteria.
Establish housekeeping and maintenance.
Establish the office to organize the schedule so that everything gets done.
Technology and communication will be kept off the property as much as possible and isolated to parts of the property when necessary. Phone and internet booths.
COMMUNITY PROGRAM: Support the workers of the community with minimum of room and board. WORKSTUDY PROGRAM: Approximately 30hrs/wk and $xxx/mo. Each month will have a different topic and schedule of classes. Defray the cost of a personal retreat with work-study. VOLUNTEER PROGRAM: Donate your time. Support the vision. Learn organic gardening. Organic cooking. Support the bookstore. And many more opportunities. FRIENDS OF THE RETREAT CENTER: Encourage supporters. STEP 2B: Establish the Kitchen/Cafeteria. This is the hub of community -- sharing meals together. Stimulate conversation. During meals, no cell phone, no internet.
STEP 2C: Preserve the natural features of the property that will attract visitors. (For example, water sources, trees, wildlife.)
STEP 3: Establish Organic Sustainable Gardening Working the land and upkeep of the grounds will be a pivotal part of the center. Keeping the property beautiful and usable will require knowledgeable organic gardeners as well as a staff of workers and volunteers.
STEP 4: Community Event After the community infrastructure is in place, community events will stimulate conscious education. When the community can support “outsiders” and welcome them inside (always a limited number to not disrupt the community), programs can be established to provide additional income to the community.
Weekly classes support and stimulate the community and along with the retreat grounds create an environment to support personal retreats.
Workshops by instructors on the retreat center “circuit” can bring people to the center by their reputation and the value of their programs. SCHEDULE OF WEEKLY CLASSES: (60 - 90 min) Weekly program of Yoga (various types), Tai Chi, Qigong, Poetry discussion groups, Writer’s Groups, Drum Circles, and much more. Special programs like concerts, speakers, kirtan. What would you like to see on the schedule? Send us feedback. PERSONAL RETREAT: Come and enjoy the community. Rest and relax. Take classes.
